Aerospace and aeronautical engineering degree programmes primarily tend to focus on initial airworthiness (i.e. the design, production, and type certification of aircraft) and as such provide successful graduates with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to seamlessly pursue a career in this sector with the likes of Airbus, Boeing, and other aerospace OEMs. However, these graduates tend to find it difficult to pursue careers in continuing airworthiness (i.e. the maintenance and continuing airworthiness management of aircraft) because the previously referenced degree programmes do not adequately prepare them for the numerous job opportunities in this sector.

Consequently, we have developed and launched the direct entry graduate training scheme for self-starters to help aerospace and aeronautical engineering graduates (and graduates of related disciplines) to be able to pursue a career in continuing airworthiness in order to take advantage of the relatively higher prospects of employment in this sector. Essentially, the scheme provides these graduates with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to seamlessly take on anyone of the following direct entry roles, which are regularly advertised by airlines, independent CAMOs, and MROs:

- Aircraft Maintenance Planner

- Aircraft Technical Records Manager

- Aircraft Reliability Engineer

NOTE: Job titles may vary slightly between organisations.

The scheme is divided into 2 separate elements: professional development training, and practical work experience placement.

The professional development training element of the scheme, which will be administered through our active and interactive instructor-supported online training system, is made up of 4 strands:

1. FUNDAMENTALS OF AIRWORTHINESS TRAINING:

This strand has been designed to introduce participants to the concept and practice of airworthiness. It will cover definitions, processes, regulations, and approved organisations.

2. AIRCRAFT GENERAL FAMILIARISATION TRAINING:

This strand has been designed to provide participants with the technical description of a typical modern commercial airliner including an analysis of its major systems.

3. ROLE-SPECIFIC TRAINING:

This strand has been designed to provide participants with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to be able to take up any one of the previously listed direct entry roles. In particular, the role-specific training programmes covered by the scheme are as follows:

- Aircraft Reliability & Reliability Centred Maintenance (ARRCM)

- Aircraft Technical Records Management (ATRM)

- Aircraft Maintenance Planning (AMP)

- Aircraft Maintenance Production Planning & Records Mgmt (AMPPRM)

NOTE: Click on any of the above links for a full description of each of the referenced training programmes.

Following successful completion of the professional development training element of the scheme, participants will be provided with an opportunity to complete a practical work experience placement with us or one of our global partners in the continuing airworthiness sector.

Because the professional development training element of the scheme would be administered through our active and interactive instructor-supported online training system, participants would be at liberty to complete this element of the scheme at a pace which suits them. However, a maximum completion time limit of 9 months would apply.

The practical work experience placement element of the scheme would run for 4 weeks. Note that this may be extended on request.

01st September 2022.

Applicants for the scheme are expected to have successfully completed an accredited Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or aeronautical engineering, or other closely related discipline, with a final grade of 2:2 or better.

£1,950 per participant.

This covers the cost of the professional development training element of the scheme, as well as 1-to-1 career guidance and support.

1. You will receive a professional development completion certificate for each of the training programmes successfully completed under the scheme where applicable.

2. You will receive FREE passes to attend our events and webinars. The first of these would be our SMS event scheduled to take place on 1st to 2nd September at London Gatwick.

3. The scheme would offer you the opportunity to engage in paid work experience over a 4-week period. Note that the placement may also be extended and could even lead to a permanent contract depending on a number of factors including your performance.

4. Upon successful completion of the scheme, you will be able to pursue any one of the previously referenced direct entry positions, and for this, you would receive personalised support and guidance. You will also receive an open recommendation letter from us.

Please use the form below to register for the scheme.

NOTE: The deadline for registration for the scheme is the 31ST OF AUGUST 2022.
